Muskita Aluminum Industry (Cyprus)
Muskita Aluminum Industry was founded in 1958 and in 1964 it launched the first Anodising Plant in Cyprus. Its main activities are the production and treatment of aluminum profile by methods of extrusion, anodisation, electrostatic painting and aluminum thermal bridging.
The company employs 243 qualified administrative and technical staff which most of them have high school education. Also the staff is specialized in environment and most of them have attended environmental programmes in order to develop environmental awareness in the company.
The company always uses raw materials which are friendly to environment and technology equipment, advanced to environmental subjects and energy saving. The most important eco-innovation is the full recovery of heat from two fuel ovens of aluminum extrusion, to produce steam for the needs of plant, putting the steam boiler in reserve. This is useful because gases, which discharged into the atmosphere, presented temperature over 3000C but now temperature is not over 1200C. The results of this eco-innovation are:
• Free production of 6500-9500 kg steam/ day
• Savings of 700kg oil / day
• 63% savings of fuel / year
• reduction of CO, CO2, NOx emissions
The company has also been applying the certified programs of ISO 9001 and it has accomplished the quality certifications of QUALANOD, awarded for anodizing by EURAS, and QUALICOAT, awarded for electrostatic powder coating, by EWAA. They will apply the program ISO 14001 very soon. The enterprise usually uses its own funds to deliver eco-innovation. It has also applied for an EU funding programme, called « Sponsors plan for energy saving and renewable energy sources” encouragement for individuals, entities, organizations and the public sector bodies, concerned with financial activity.
