Mediterranean regions from seven countries in project MEDOSSIC
8th of July 2009 – Ten partners from seven countries in Mediterranean area have recently started to implement the transnational project dealing with enhancement of eco-innovation capacities. The project entitled Mediterranean organization structure and strengthening of innovation capacities for sustainable development (acronym MEDOSSIC) was developed within the MED programme and is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund. Project is lead by Regional Development Agency of Inner- Karst Region from Slovenia. The partnership consists of regional, mostly development-oriented organizations that see the strong opportunity to strengthen eco-innovation by cooperating with all essential stakeholders and target groups.
The project aims to create transnational network structure with the specific goal: to improve implementation of regional policies in the innovation field and increase the capacity for sustainable development by encouraging eco-innovation. In this way the project is coherent with the first priority axis of the Med programme which aims at strengthening innovation capacities.
The project MEDOSSIC formally started in April 2009 with establishment of partnership consortium, which is now commencing the first phase of the project: the existing situation analyses in the Med area. Partners do have different background (history, culture,…), so it will be also important to exchange best practices and experiences among different areas. On the basis of the situation analyses and best practices investigation results the strategic and operational regional plans will be developed. The actual outcome is to establish a pilot structure in each region for counseling, coordinating and providing information to target groups. By strengthening the cooperation among stakeholders from economy (chamber of commerce, SME’s), representatives from public institutions (national institutions, public research organizations, universities) and other organizations (incubators, technological centers etc.), the platform for better support to innovation will be built. In this way consortium of the project will support long term implications such as economy growth, employment and sustainable development. More information will be available in autumn at project’s multi lingual web page.
The partners come from seven countries: Regional Development Agency of Inner-Karst Region, Regional Development Center Koper and Regional Development Center Novo mesto are from Slovenia, Larnaca district development Agency from Cyprus, Eastern Crete Development Organization from Greece, TecnoMarche – Scientific and Technology park of Marche Region and DELTA 2000 Soc. Cons. a.r.l.come from Italy, Provincial Government of Malaga from Spain, RRA Porin from candidate Croatia and Directorate for SME from potential candidate Monte Negro.
The total budget of the project is 1.126.581 €, the subsidy granted by the ERDF is
905.579 Euros or 80 percentages of total eligible costs. The project will last two years.
