European Commission has launched a wide public consultations on the revision of the Environmental Impact Assessment


The Commission in Slovenia invites all citizens, organizations and other stakeholders involved in environmental impact assessment to participate in public consultation, and send their contributions by 24 September 2010.

Directive on Environmental Impact Assessment was adopted 25 years ago and should be updated to reflect changes in law and policy, the EU and the EU Court of Justice. Public consultation is relating to issues such as prior review of projects for environmental impact assessment, quality of the environmental impact assessment, coordination of requirements for impact assessments of the Member States, cross-border problems in the case of projects involving several Member States, the role of environmental authorities and developing synergies with other EU policies such as climate change and biodiversity.
